Hi Everyone,
This is just a check in. Keith and I literally just walked in the door from our Cape, Boston, Medford trip. Needless-to-say, we did some eating. I tried to make better choices (broiled seafood, salads) but the Stuffed Quahog messed me up. No worries...beginning tomorrow, we are both back to work and looking forward to somewhat of an eating schedule. Unfortunately, the heat will slow us down but in the meantime, we plan to eat lean protein and salads for lunch instead of our usual fresh, hot pie...pizza pie, that is!
We'll keep you posted. I don't think we will blog on a daily basis but we will surely keep you posted. Our challenge is getting into a regular exercise routine.
Have a great week!
Jay + Keith

I am convinced that there is a healthy way to make/eat pizza. I'm not giving up carbs yet! We'll see where I am after a couple of weeks. If no less, then I'll have to eat my words!
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to ask John how he makes his homemade pizza...not sure of the calorie content, but it sure is delicious! :-)
ReplyDeleteWe've made pizza on whole wheat Naan bread with marinara or pesto and then top it with vegetables -- sauteed eggplant, red peppers, scallions, squash, garlic -- and cheese. Bake for 8-10 mins at 375 degrees. It's really good! (I'll admit we had leftover pizza tonight... next time we will make it ourselves).
ReplyDeleteI think the key would be wholewheat crust (which is really easy to make and delish), no sauce but just a little olive oil, ripe tomatoes, basil and little dollops of goat cheese or maybe a few shavings or shakes of parmesan. The challenge is not keep on wanting more. When Steve and I made it, we were like, gosh, this is addictive!
ReplyDeletethanks everyone. yes, i am steering away from any white carb (starches and sugars). kris swears by this. it's also how pete lost weight when he realized his sugar was way high. the whole wheat crust is the way to go but i am also reluctant because, you are right, bets...once you start, it's hard to stop.
